Vinyl Jacket originally formed in a Northumberland town with a population of 2,000 that’s famous for its real ale brewery and the father of the railways. Making their name in Newcastle upon Tyne with their zealous live shows, they released their debut single in 2011 which led to performances at Glastonbury Festival and radio support from Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and XFM. Two more singles followed in quick succession and in 2012 the band recorded a Maida Vale session for Huw Stephens as well as playing at The Great Escape and Reeperbahn Festival.
Over the months of 2013, brothers Ben (vocals, guitar) and Jack Dancer (vocals, bass), Matt Walch (vocals, guitar) and David Pullen (vocals, drums) refined their infectious and inventive guitar pop, as evident on the ‘Safari’ EP. Self-recorded in warehouses around Newcastle and mastered by John Davis at Metropolis (The Maccabees, Friendly Fires, Everything Everything), the new material has garnered praise from both sides of the Atlantic being described as ‘energetic, intelligent and deviously danceable’ and ‘indie pop delight, oozing with worldly riffs’.
